so… on monday i FINALLY was able to venture into san francisco city after living here for almost four weeks. i was really excited to hit the memorial day sales and to be somewhere fabulously metropolitan again. after a disappointing anthropologie trip, a successful nordstrom’s trip (the nordstrom’s here is AMAZING with all these floors and escalators and you can see down the hole…), i wandered through [westfield?] plaza and looked in at the clark’s store, the j.crew, the h&m, vera bradley (a new one which i really like)… then i saw it next to the bloomingdales: martin + osa.
i first found this store on omiru and immediately went to the martin + osa website to find this shirt that i wanted…
i generally liked the store’s site and wanted to visit one…
so i was pleasantly surprised to find one right in front of me! i went in and found the above shirt i wanted and tried on some others. i loved the feel of the store – very nautical/boat-y with wood floors and walls (maybe even a bit cabin/beach house-y?). a nice sales associate started my dressing room for me, and it seemed like everytime i picked something up, someone was there to take it to my room. they offered me a bottle of water (a cute little fiji bottle) which was a lifesaver since i was parched. the fitting rooms were amazing with ceilings that seemed two stories tall and a door that was just as tall. they were uncluttered with the same wood walls and with a little wooden bench at the end. i loved it. and the best part – i spent $100 and got $25 off!! i ended up buying this shirt (which is part rayon, and i swore off of buying rayon garments, but it was SO PRETTY that i couldn’t resist):
after a long debate about also purchasing the first three of these options:
in the end, it was a lovely trip and i look forward to returning soon! i have other shirts to buy…
(sorry for the imperfected gallery, i’m trying to figure this all out)
so on our ride home from the oakland airport (which i navigated my way out of in less than ten minutes of landing – go me!), brad had a couple of funnies.
{a conversation about why it was my fault that he was out of floss}
brad: it’s your responsibility because you’re the supplier of those types of things.
me: and what are you the supplier of?
brad: the two “s” ’s.
me: the two s’s? which are…
brad: [slight hesitation] sperm, and money.
i can’t remember the second one. sorry.
i’m not sure if i’m just a super dork, but something about the mild cheesiness and yet charismatic characters of High School Musical (1 and 2) draws me in. i finally got to watch High School Musical 2 all the way through this morning, and I really like it!! The tacky “Bet on It” song that makes me laugh SO HARD at zac efron because it’s so cheesy, the tacky love songs – i just eat them up then beg for more. slightly embarassing. here are two new ones that i will be incorporating into my life immediately.
“Everyday” – i’m pretty sure that this is me and brad’s new song (i know he LOVES me claiming high school musical songs) because i love it and the extreme cheesiness of the thought of a: having a song and b: it being from high school musical makes it totally worth it.

and did i mention i LOVE gabriella’s dress?? also on the summer to do list…
“All for One” – i need to download this because i’m 99% sure it’s going to end up on this year’s summer compilation cd. it might even have inspired the making of such a cd…

i also love the mixture of patterns in this dress of gabriella’s (also on the to-do list is a summer floral with gingham waistband and ruffle inspired by this dress). and if you watch closely, you can see miley cyrus in a yellow top rocking out in one scene…
one day i will get smart enough to actually put the videos on the dang blog. one day. if anyone knows the secret tricks, let me know. i tried pasting the “embed” link into the page and i just came up with the link on the page. i know. i’m asian and i can’t even get this right…
one of the many things on my creative to-do list:
i love the lace yoke and sleeve and the black sleek/classic look to the dress, but it’s still flirty and has personality!
also… high school musical 2. i’m pretty sure i’m going to be making many things inspired by that movie (esp. gabriella’s wardrobe). i’m a dork.
a slight confession to put an end to this blogging hiatus.
i must admit, that of all the things at julie’s wedding, it took me awhile to love her veil. why? because i was slightly jealous that she got the cute little vintage veil i totally wanted (after blowing the budget, the veil definitely got nixed):
so after a LONG google search for the birdcage veil i wanted to make for myself, i came across these pictures/decisions:
angelina jolie for st john knits (there’s a dress i also found that i totally want to recreate:
unveiledbridaldesigns.com – dorene is FABULOUS!! i fell in love with her veils and if brad would let me spend around $150-200 to get one custom made by her, i would be all over it!
tricia’s wedding veil (by dorene):
for her designer friend christa taylor:
but after a long search, i began to wonder if poorly made birdcage veils had a closer resemblance to…
bee keepers:
or fencing masks:
although both have been done in high fashion…
also fun to note: christa taylor (christa-taylor.com) has this WAY CUTE belt i found in the lovely eliza magazine that i totally want!! it’s such a small world…
