While perusing through Hollister Hovey’s cute blog (and her international travels), I realized a profound thought: I don’t like skinny girls who don’t eat like normal people, i.e. skinny girls who decide that they only eat organic food, or that they don’t eat meat, or that they’ll never enjoy things like chocolate and cake. Or those skinny girls who make people like me feel awkward when they eat like a half a sandwich (and not half a footlong or something, but half of a normal, two-pieces-of-bread-with-some-lunchmeat sandwich) and then declare that they are “full.”  They must be lying.  Who can eat and ounce of food and then have no room in their stomach for additional gorging?!

Then I realized that I don’t like skinny girls who can eat whatever they’d like either.  You know the type.  Those girls who eat just as much pizza, cake, and ice cream as I do, never do an ounce of physical activity, then just happen to be nice and skinny as if they didn’t just consume 2000 calories in one sitting.

And I can’t leave out those skinny girls who have recently become skinny and act like they eat as much as me and don’t work out, when in reality, you know they are doing SOMETHING different because people don’t just drop weight by eating the same amount of food as me and sitting on the couch all day watching tv.

Pretty much, if you’re skinny, I may not like you.

This could be related to the fact that I have recently starting attending a Pilates class, which is more like a self-punishment class of perpetual pain three times a week that leaves you hurting for days after it’s over.  While doing some leg workouts, the class instructor asked about the newly built In-N-Out and her love of hamburgers.  YES! I thought. She’s a normal person and not one of those freak people who can survive on only barley. Now, don’t get me wrong.  she’s defintely one of the most fit looking people I’ve ever seen, but I feel good about it since oh she gets paid to work out like all the time (and people who work out ALL the time are bound to have SOME bodily benefits, right).

However, normal sized people have all my sympathies.  Let’s work out together.  Let’s eat together. Let’s talk about how much we hate skinny people together.  But if you’re skinny?  You have a LOT to live up to.  I subconsciously  expect you to have superhuman powers: to be able to run for hours, to be able to lift heavy weights, to be able to have the flexibility of a well-trained gymnast, and yet still be [less able] in things that I may also be participating in, thus allowing me a one up on you.

So if you are skinny and would like to be my friend, here are your requirements:

- You must have a normal appetite and eat normal foods.

- You must be VERY physically active, yet still run slower than I do.

- You must be lacking in other hobbies thereby making working out one of your hobbies while simultaneously making my life better than yours since I can enjoy things besides working out.

- You must NOT have a “really fast metabolism” or whatever skinny people use as an excuse for being so skinny.

- You must have a doable, easy secret that you can share with me, so that I can be skinny like you.

{dear friends, please don’t take offense to this. i love all my skinny friends as much as my not skinny friends.just consider this a humorous exercise in writing. since that’s a type of exercise i can handle.}

There’s a great sale going on right now.  And some items are much cheaper in store than online.  I bought this top for TEN DOLLARS!! 

It’s a little bit big, but ten bucks? Come on. I really want it for layering and I can always take it in if I want it smaller with a simple surge down the sides.

Last night while browsing through old catalogs for inspiration, I came across this purse.

Why did I not buy this when it came out?! I’m sure it eventually went on sale and could’ve become my next purse of my life.  I did find it on ebay, but one day is not enough time to logically weigh out in my mind if I want it.  Plus the pressure makes me want it more and question my thinking capabilities.

This morning, while looking for the aforementioned purse, I came across old Anthro catalogs on ebay. And the one that was shot where I took my bridals.  And I had to have it.

So I splurged. I bought it for eleven dollars (what?! That’s the same price as the shirt!), BUT I justified it since it will forever document that my bridals are equivalent to Anthropologie which makes me feel a hundred times cooler.

And coolness is something that money can’t buy.

*Also to note: PayPal had a deal that if I paid with my bank account, they’d give me $5 back… so once I get that deposit, really, it was only six dollars.

We’re coming up on our Cotton Anniversary!!

Last year, Britt blogged about this bedding that I was eying at Anthropologie and trying to justify buying (even this summer when it went on sale, I couldn’t bear to fork it out).

Instead, I was going to MAKE a similar (maybe) quilt/duvet cover/something for our Cotton Anniversary.  Then I realized how many things I actually want to MAKE for Christmas this year, and how I usually overbook myself (which I think I already have), and then realized how much fabric I would actually need, and decided that I should just break down and buy it.

I’ve decided on the Organic Cotton Pin-Tuck Duvet cover at West Elm (best news = I can use Discover cashback there; I LOVE CASHBACK).

THE PROBLEM: DO I GET IT IN WHITE OR CREAM?!

This is the white.  Currently, all my bedding except the duvet cover is white. White sheets, *many* white pillowcases… Clearly this seems like the logical choice.  Also, I LOVE the look of a white bed and how peaceful and clean it seems even when my room may be a tad bit messy.

But then I saw this one:

And thought, maybe cream is the way to go.  But then I would need new sheets/it wouldn’t match, oh and I’d have to buy 8 new pillowcases (and since I’m picky about my pillowcases, they wouldn’ t come cheap).

Our bedroom is going to have a Martin + Osa feel… color scheme = navy + brown + white + warm oranges/yellows/candlelight colors… like a shwanky, rustic cabin resort.  What I imagine Aspen is like.  Or maybe Sundance.   So white OR cream really works.

And so… either convince me that I should stick with white because it’s more economical, and I can buy navy sheets when we get a new bed thus making a super cute navy/white and/or white/white option, or convince me that the cream really does look that much better and who cares if my sheets don’t match for awhile because it REALLY LOOKS THAT GOOD.

At this point, I think I’m on the fence (or maybe leaning towards the white…. or not… or… yeah, I’m probably on the fence).

Jade showed me this couch on Tuesday, and I can’t help but lust after it.

Looks pretty sweet right? Oh just wait. It gets better.

What? It’s transforming?!

What?! Two people can now sleep here?! BALLIN!!

So far as I can tell, it’s made by bonbon trading in the UK, but I think it’s available in the US at Resource Furniture.  I’ve read that it costs anywhere between 4k – 7k, but I have a feeling it will be 7k-9k.

So it looks like I need to get me a piggy bank.

I’ll also be taking donations.

And how it’s the only time of year that I love the air to be crisp and the snow to fall.

And how much I love shopping for presents and shopping in general.

And how much I love to wrap presents (this year’s packaging is going to be SO CUTE!! – last year’s was brown paper packages tied up with string).

And how next week I should try to get a seasonal job at either Anthropologie or Nordstroms or Macy’s or somewhere else that has fabulous clothes/things for me to buy.

And how I LOVE gift catalogs.
